Furnace Venting & Vent Pipe

We sell directly to the homeowner

Venting carries combustion products safely outside. High-efficiency condensing furnaces vent through PVC, CPVC, or ABS because their flue gas is cool and wet; mid-efficiency appliances use metal vent pipe. The two are not interchangeable, and vent problems show up as pressure switch faults far more often than as anything obviously vent-shaped.

8 venting & vent pipe in stock, ready for same-day pickup at our Coquitlam warehouse or shipped worldwide.

Signs your venting may have failed

  • Pressure switch faults that come and go with the weather
  • Ice or snow blocking the vent termination outside
  • Visible corrosion, sagging, or separated joints in the vent run
  • Condensate leaking from a vent joint

Venting questions

Can I use metal vent pipe on a high-efficiency furnace?
No. Condensing furnaces produce cool, acidic condensate that corrodes metal vent pipe. They vent through PVC, CPVC, or ABS as specified by the manufacturer. Using the wrong material is both a code violation and a genuine carbon monoxide risk.
Why does my furnace fail during snow or high wind?
Almost always a blocked or wind-affected vent termination. Snow drifts, ice build-up from the condensate plume, and even a bird nest will restrict the vent enough to open the pressure switch. Keep the termination clear — it is the most common winter no-heat call we take.
